About Sarah & Fish&Chicks

How It All Began

My love for fly fishing started in my early twenties when I was dating a guy who was completely obsessed with it. Our first date was a fishing trip in Denmark, where I caught a sea trout on my very first try. Needless to say, I was hooked. His passion eventually took us to Patagonia, and that's where the real adventure began

We kept going back. Six months in Patagonia, home to save up, then another six months on the road. Eventually, we spent a year and a half living out of a car, spending one winter on a farm in Chile with an old gaucho before hitting the road again when spring arrived.

It was the adventure of a lifetime. And looking back, it was never just about the fishing.

It was the people we met, the wildlife encounters, picking berries along the river, learning about wild herbs from locals and finding our way through the Andes. The star-filled nights, the early mornings and the freedom of having no real plan other than seeing where the next river would take us.

Those experiences shaped the way I see the world and what I value most in life.

And that's the feeling I want to share through Fish&Chicks.

Besides running Fish&Chicks, I’m a Patagonia fly fishing ambassador, have worked with Loop Tackle on design for the past decade, and create content for Wiley X. I also serve on the board of the Skjern River Association.

When I’m not travelling, you’ll find me on our old farm in Denmark, right next to the Skjern River.

More Than Just Fly Fishing

I started Fish&Chicks to make fly fishing more accessible to women and create a welcoming community where everyone feels comfortable learning, asking questions and trying new things.

But it's about so much more than fishing. It's about exploring wild places, cooking over open fire, sharing stories, making new friends and having fun along the way.

River conservation and hands-on restoration are also close to my heart. I believe that the more connected we feel to nature, the more we want to protect it.

Above all, I hope Fish&Chicks inspires women to step outside their comfort zones, gain confidence and seek their own adventures — perhaps with a new fishing buddy by their side.
